Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. You’ll find me posting over at Quintessentially Kate about Found Money, and I’m excited to welcome Lisa from Organize365 to The Family CEO.  Here’s Lisa: Sometimes when your priorities are in the right place, the money takes care of itself. This winter our life was spinning out of control. I [...]

Giveaway: 3-2-1 Stop: Stop Running and Start Living

April 2, 2012

Lorilee Lippincott (how awesome is that name?) actually had me at the name of her blog: Loving Simple Living. And if I wasn’t sold already, she would have definitely drawn me in with the tagline: simplifying, destressing, and focusing on what matters. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Lorilee’s blog is wonderful reading and — if living [...]

Simplifying Holiday Clutter

March 22, 2012

Sharon has inspired me to get more serious about decluttering and to track my progress. So far in 2012, we’ve gotten rid of 87 items: 80 of those were donated and 7 were sold on Craigslist. The earnings from the Craigslist sales were $210 and It’s Deductible tells me that so far we’ve shaved $96 from next year’s tax [...]

Decluttering and Simplifying Book Collections

March 5, 2012

It’s hard for me to talk about books as clutter. I just don’t see them that way. Still as most book lovers will attest, books just seem to find us and our collections grow and grow. So at times my need to simplify outweighs my love of being surrounded by books and that’s where I [...]

Reader Question: How to Get Kids to Declutter, Simplify

February 1, 2012

A reader named Shannon asked this question in the comments of the last post on decluttering: Any tips for motivating kids to declutter if there is not cash involved? Obviously, this is going to depend a lot on the age of the kids. When my kids were small I did their decluttering for them. It’s [...]

The Power of Simplifying: How One Mom Used a Decluttering Challenge to Save $1800 in Taxes

January 31, 2012

I’m a big fan and long-time reader of Sharon at Musings of a Midlife Mom. For one thing, we find ourselves in exactly the same place in life. Here’s how she describes herself: “I’m a wife and mother entering midlife, trying to live simply and save for retirement, and still have a little fun along [...]

How to Read Kindle eBooks Without a Kindle

January 20, 2012

Many of you have taken advantage of the free Kindle ebooks I posted about this week and last. (A lot of you must be decluttering and simplifying too! FYI, at the time I’m writing this, all four books are still being offered for free or for 99 cents.) As I was posting about those books, however, [...]
