About
I am Julie Mayfield, the creator and author of The Family CEO. I started this blog in 2006, after I hired myself to save my family money and pay off debt. I’m passionate about family finance, and — as the bookkeeper for two small family businesses and the person who manages our family’s finances — I think about it a lot.
But money is about more than just money; it’s about life. And creating an authentic, intentional life is something I’m equally passionate about. So over time the blog has expanded to include lifestyle topics like decorating, traveling, and finding ways to simplify and give back.
The blog is organized into the following departments and categories, which you will also find in the right sidebar of the blog:
Family Finance: Debt Reduction, Money Management, Paying for College, Simple Investing
Simplifying: Decluttering, Organizing
House and Home: Cooking, Decorating, Getting Things to Grow
A Full Life: Travel, Entertaining, Gifts & Giving, Books and Reading
I hope you’re able to find several areas that interest you.
In addition to The Family CEO, you will find my writing at U.S. News & World Report, where my daughter and I have blogged about college and at the PerkStreet Financial Blog, where I was a customer columnist.

Comments
My goal is for this blog to be a conversation, and not a one-way communication. Nothing makes me happier than comments on the posts, so I encourage you to add your voice to the conversation.
And if there is anything you’d like to see covered on The Family CEO, please use the contact form to tell me about it. I’d love to hear from you.
Finally, thank you for stopping by The Family CEO, and for taking the time to find out more. I sincerely appreciate it.
Julie
