We follow that saying for Christmas gifts as well… Makes you appreciate your gifts more! Christmas isn’t supposed to be all about gifts, so I’m trying to bring the true meaning of Christmas back to stay!

Love that, Carla.

Sales are definitely the way to go for Christmas gifts, and buying throughout the year can help you land even better sales. I’m not that organized, though, so the sales I hit are usually right after Thanksgiving.

This is the first year I followed that saying and oh how easy it was! The good news? I’m done!! Buying, wrapping and putting away! Yeah!

This is the first year we’re really buying gifts for our son (he’s 2.5) and we are doing, “something you want, something you need, something to do and something to read.”

Tanya, I love “something to do.” Is that like an outing/experience gift or an activity toy type gift? Enjoy Christmas with him at this magical age!

Good work, Sharon. I can’t tell you how jealous I am. What an enjoyable holiday season you’re going to have.

We are hoping to be creative with it over the years. Same with “something to read,” we are thinking we won’t just get him a book every year. This year something to do is some wooden puzzles. Haven’t figured out something to read yet
Something you want is a replica University of Michigan football helmet and something you need will probably be new winter boots. He’ll also get one big and a couple little gifts from “Santa” until he figures that fib out

Excellent! My prediction? He doesn’t take the football helmet off for months. He’ll probably want to sleep in it.

There certainly are a lot of traditions that we take for granted for Christmas. I’ve been cutting back a bit on the spending and the baking this year. It’s hard with the kids though because I feel like they should have huge piles under the Christmas tree when reality is they feel overwhelmed by the huge piles.

I think many of us relate, Barb. We want our kids to have the perfect Christmas which drives us to do more, more, more.
