Debt Snowflake Update: Another $489.40 Sent to the Credit Card
by Julie on November 6, 2010 · 0 comments
The last snowflake I sent to the credit card we’re currently attacking, was for $489.40. $369.40 was my salary for doing bookkeeping and payroll work for my husband’s business. Usually this amount gets swallowed up in our checking account, but I decided to start snowflaking it to the credit card instead.
I have another bookkeeping client who pays me $250/month and this amount has also been assigned to the debt snowball.
The remaining $120 that I snowflaked came from payments I received for writing articles for Demand Media Studios. I’ve been an approved writer for Demand for a while, but I had only written three articles for them, and that was more than a year ago. Recently I received an email saying I was approved to write personal finance articles for a particular Demand project at $20/each. Since I had recently decided to aggressively focus on paying down debt, this opportunity for upfront payments came at a good time.
If you’re interested in applying as a Demand Media writer, you will find more info on it
here. Demand also has jobs for freelance filmmakers and copy editors. Also, the ebook
Demand Media Secrets has be a huge help to me in shortening my learning curve, and it has great info about getting accepted as a DM writer as well. At a cost of only $19.99, it has paid for itself over and over in the last month.
So, in looking back, our debt snowflakes have totaled over $1400 since October 11. That is amazing to me. The largest amount was the bookkeeping salary at $369.40, and there have been amounts as small as $20. Every day I ask myself where I can find some more snowflakes.
The whole thing is kind of addicting and – dare I say it – even fun.
