What I Learned at the eHow Community Gathering

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was honored and excited to be part of the first ever eHow Community Gathering, called weHow 2008. Seventeen of us spent two days in Santa Monica, CA, learning more about eHow and giving our feedback on the site and our experiences with it.

Here are among the many things I learned:

  • eHow is a Top 50 website, with 23 million visitors each month. (In other words, if eHow were a country, it would be bigger than Australia!)
  • There are over 350,000 articles on eHow.
  • eHow is part of Demand Media, which has sites that include Livestrong.com and Expert Village.com.
  • The eHow team is very interested in creating a quality user experience, both for writers and readers.
What weHow 2008 allowed me to do was see the big picture. There are some exciting things coming in the not-so-distant future with eHow.

I also learned so much from spending time with fellow eHow writers. At least two of the seventeen writers are earning $1000+/month with eHow. Considering how new eHow is, that was powerful to me.

All in all, I walked away from my experience with a renewed commitment to expand my list of eHow articles and to make the most of the opportunity that presents itself.

I'm also working on the best way to share the information that I've learned with those who are interested. If there's anything you'd like to know about my eHow experiences, please let me know.
