Works for me Wednesday: Activity Folders
Every mom knows that staying on top of paperwork is a big deal. Here's what's worked for me at my house: activity folders. I keep several of those folders with pockets on each side, like the one in the picture. For our needs I've labeled one "School", one "Sports", and one "Dance/Piano".
Since I have two children, I put one child's papers on one side of the folder, and the other child's papers on the other side for both the "School" and "Sports" folders.
For "School" I include things like calendars, schedules, info on field trips, etc. For "Sports" I include rosters, schedules, camp enrollments, etc.
For the "Dance/Piano" folder I, obviously, put dance info and paperwork on one side and piano info and paperwork on the other. I use a different color for each folder and, because they get so much use, I've graduated from paper folders to plastic.
These folders sit in one of those desktop incline sorters by my computer. My whole family knows where they are and uses them.
This system works great because I have two children. If I had more, however, I would have a folder for each child and put school stuff on one side and extra curricular items on the other.
I know there are other more sophisticated systems out there but this system has worked well for my family and me for a number of years.

Great idea! That is much better then my manila envelope file system! Thanks for the tip!
Great idea and it would definitely make hunting for kid's papers much easier! Thanks for the tip!
Great idea!
Wow! That is very organized.
Love it! Any kind of organization that mom, dad, and kids can all understand and use is a winner.
I like your idea, thanks for sharing.
Nice idea! I need some help getting organized!
I posted a WFMW tip as well. Stop by and take a peek. :)
I use the same technique only I use a folder for each child and use folders that also have prongs. Any extracurricular papers given at the beginning of the year (such as dance, piano, etc) that have monthly fees, important phone numbers, policies, etc are hole-punched and put in the prong area. Other papers given throughout the year are put in the pockets. It has really helped me keep up with information.
Great folder idea. I'm always rummaging through each kid's folder (for everything) when all I want is Boy Scout stuff....I'll try this way.
It really does work. I've used something similar-same concept except I have it all in one big 3 ring binder
