Mary Hunt Hits the Nail on the Head!

My number finally came up at the library and I picked up Mary Hunt’s Live Your Life for Half the Price to see what wisdom it held. Imagine my pleasant surprise when, only 26 pages into the book, she describes just what I’m trying to do as The Family CEO. She writes:

In some ways living below your means is like having a part-time job with this job description: plan, research, wait, negotiate, strategize, compare, and consider.

What better part-time job could you hope for than one where you set your hours, agenda, and pace and you’re the boss.

She also makes this point, which certainly isn’t lost on me:

And don’t forget: the “wages” are tax-free because every dollar you manage not to spend is a dollar on which you have already been taxed.

Have you ever experienced that instant connection that happens when someone gives voice to something that you have been thinking? I find myself wanting to scream, “Yes! That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to say!”

Thanks,Mary. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book.

I love Mary Hunt! A lot of the “tips” from other writers are useless to me–I’m already NOT buying expensive cups of coffee twice a day, leasing a new car every year, etc. etc., but she usually has good tips for those of us who are already living fairly frugally. I didn’t know she had a new book out! Thanks for the heads-up!
