A New Feature: Take Stock Tuesday

I'm a list maker. I have lists for all kinds of things. One technique I find particularly help and motivating is to keep a running list of things I've done to save and/or earn money. I keep the list because reviewing it jogs my memory for good ideas and also allows me to bask in my successful efforts once in a while.

Below is a partial list of things I've done in the last week to either save or earn money. Inspired by Shannon's "Works for Me Wednesday",it's my intention is to make this a regular feature at The Family CEO. (I did ask Shannon for her blessing and her reply was "go for it"!)

If you'd like to make your own list to share you can either include it in the comments section of this post or post your list on your blog and link to it in the comments section. I think it would be great to see what others are doing on a weekly basis!

This week's saving strategies:

  • Picked up a brisket at $1.88/lb to put in the freezer for my son's birthday dinner next month. (BBQ'd brisket is his favorite!)
  • Used a Walgreeen's "new or transferred prescription coupon" for a $10 Walgreens gift card when my daughter came down with Strep Throat.
  • Bought buy one, get one free AA batteries with the Walgreen's gift card.
  • Took a spin through Big Lots and didn't buy a thing!
  • Bought a huge bottle of vinegar for $1.57 in order to make homemade cleaning solutions.
  • Remembered my Bed, Bath and Beyond coupon when buying a wedding shower gift. (BB&B also wraps gift registry purchases for free and gives Upromise credit for purchases online or in their store.)
  • Purchased loss leaders at Walgreen's and a local grocery store.
  • Finally cancelled AOL for good.

    This week's earning efforts:

    • Took advantage of Unwired Buyer's $20 trial offer to make a bid on eBay. (Thanks to Money Dummy for the tip. Email me or Money Dummy for a referral link.)
    • Received new account bonuses from Sharebuilder ($65) and Bank of America ($50).
    • Earned a $2.50 signup bonus and a $3.60 rebate from Mr. Rebates.
    • Sold a box of books to Half Price Books for $13 and used it to buy two books I've been wanting to read.

Hey, Just wanted to let you know that I added you to my Festival Roundup, and encouraged everyone to come check this out and participate next week. I'll try to get my act together by next week myself, I love the idea of some additional accountability to keep me on track.
